If you’ve been on social media lately, it comes as no surprise that I have been on a crazy 2020 turquoise kick! Today I’ll be reviewing a custom, handmade purchase from Country Made Pens. The shop is based out of Missouri with a unique claim to fame— engraved fountain pens (and other objects)!
Design (5/5): I asked Troy for a floral whale design, as it would play well into my “turquoise/teal/ocean” theme. The pen cannot be posted. The section is slim and comfortable during writing sessions. The silver trim on the cap and body accent this pen nicely and gives it a classy, elegant feel.
The engraving is breathtaking. The white filler allows you to see the design when the pen is filled with ink. There is an incredible amount of detail within the engraving, especially considering that the pen is roughly the same size as my Bonecrusher.
Note: Troy did state that the white /black filler is typically used for metal engraving. If exposed to water, the filler may come off. He recommended limiting water exposure on the outside of the barrel, and to take extra care with cleaning.
Color (5/5): I would describe this color as a shimmery mint blue. The material is cool-toned, with lots of depth and sparkle. The barrel of the pen is a see-through turquoise in contrast to the pen cap. The two blues pair nicely together.
Nib (4/5): I purchased this with a standard Jowo #6 <M>. As usual, I have no complaints with Jowo nibs.
Ink Capacity (3/5): This pen came with a standard converter which is not unordinary.
Overall (4.5/5): I am beyond thrilled with this purchase and highly recommend checking out Troy’s shop. This is a lovely ocean-themed pen that brings joy whenever I use it!
