Today we will be taking a look at Platinum Carbon Black. This is a pitch black ink with excellent depth and saturation. In contrast to most fountain pen inks, PCB is pigmented instead of dye-based. This makes it an excellent choice for artists, though it is recommended that you clean out your fountain pen once weekly.
Swabs:
This ink had no shading and high sheen. The sheen is unique and is a graphite-like silver. This black has no undertones—I felt like I was staring into the void. It is definitely the “blackest” black ink I have reviewed so far.

This sample had an overly wet but consistent flow. The consistency makes it perfect for sketches and art.
Overall: I wasn’t expecting to be wowed by a black ink, but I like Platinum Carbon Black a lot. I especially liked the high water resistance and deep pigmentation!
