Today we are reviewing the InkJournal notebook which was kindly sent by Tom.
A page from my personal ink swatch notebook (Tomoe River Paper 52 gsm). |
The back of my notebook, which houses black and blue-black inks. |
Moving on to our review—the first detail that struck me was the color. This is a vibrant blue notebook.
Specs:
- 8.3” x 5.5” (211mm x 139.7mm)
- 192 pages; 80 gsm acid-free Regalia Paper
- Elastic band closure
- 2 page ribbon bookmarks
Paper/Ink:
This journal handled fountain pen inks wonderfully. The paper is substantial and thicker than Tomoe River 52 gsm paper.
There are three types of pages:
A swatch page where you can fill out the inked pen and nib size
An in-depth ink swatch page featuring categories such as flow, shading, sheen, dry time, etc. =
Another swatch page filled with 15 squares. As you can see in the images, I experimented a bit on organizing inks. I ended up going for a ‘Pantone-like’ style.
Overall:
The InkJournal is a wonderful little notebook, and a fantastic way to categorize inks. It is clear that this was designed with care and attention to detail. Personally, I loved the square swatches page.
This notebook was kindly sent by InkJournal.com for review. All thoughts/opinions are my own.
