Ink Review #1: Pilot Iroshizuku Kiri-Same

For my first review, I wanted to discuss one of my favorite inks--Pilot Iroshizuku Kiri-Same (Misty Rain). As you can see, I reach for this color quite often!

Pilot Iroshizuku inks were inspired by Japanese scenery. These inks are popular in the writing community and come in a wide range of colors. Recently, Pilot released 7 colors to commemorate their 100th anniversary!

After testing a sample vial from Goulet Pens, I purchased the bottle off of Amazon for $15.86. This runs around 0.31 per mL which is a bit pricier than Diamine inks (0.28 per mL). However, I find that the 50 mL bottle is more than adequate and has lasted over a year. Lastly, I love the design of the bottle itself. The triangle at the bottom makes it easier to fill your pens with the very last drops of ink.

Swabs:

The color is reminiscent of a grey, rainy day. It's similar to HB pencil graphite and is easily readable. This ink does not sheen but has shades very well.

Writing Sample:

This ink is well behaved and performs consistently in all of my pens.

Overall: I recommend this ink. It is a joy to use and provides a change of pace for those who write with blue or black ink. I foresee that this will remain a staple in my collection for a long time!
