Notebook Review: Midori MD A6 Notebook

Today we are spicing things up with a notebook review! I was gifted this Midori MD notebook by my dear friend. To be honest, I tend to hoard notebooks (not inks, surprisingly) and chose to use the Midori on rotations.

Background:

I decorated the front with wash tape and a label for my current rotation. The pen is a standard InkJoy, 0.5 mm.

The Midori brand is from Japan and if you frequent r/fountainpens, is mentioned alongside Hobonichi/Rhodia/etc. The company was started in 1950 and specialized in writing paper and envelope production. Today, they manufacture a wide range of stationery products including storage, notebooks, and pens!

This Midori MD notebook is A6 sized and contains 176 pages/88 sheets. There are 19 lines per page and the lines are spaced 7 mm apart. It’s a very light notebook and fits into my scrubs pocket nicely.

A cute cover page. I love the blue ribbon.

Paper:

Each page is divided with a thicker line into two sections. This allows me to glance through sections quickly and group diseases, drugs, and other notes. I also purchased the Midori Diary Stickers which are undated.

And now, the big question—how does this notebook fare with fountain pen ink?

It performs beautifully! I did not see bleeding or feathering with my Aurora <M> ( a wet writer) or Lamy <F>. I prefer using a finer nib for rotations, and have not had any issues with my Pilot <PO> nib.

Overall:

Can I say that I absolutely love these little notebooks? They are SO portable and versatile. The paper is smooth, handles fountain pen ink, and I especially like the little sections. This notebook gets a 5/5 from me—I’ve already purchased a few more from Vanness.
