Pen Review: Aurora 88 Demo Rosa

Today I would like to introduce the newest member of the pen family—the Aurora 88 Demo Rosa! This is a limited edition pen (#116/150) and is available for purchase as a pen/ink set. The pen comes with a 35 mL bottle of Ferris Wheel Lady Rose.

I purchased this set from the awesome folks at EndlessPens. It arrived less than a week later despite the post-office holiday rush!

Design (4/5): The Demo Rosa is a demonstrator piston-filler pen. In contrast to the Aurora Optima, the Aurora 88 has curved ends and is slightly taller. Both pens boast Aurora’s trademark "hidden ink reserve” system. The clear design makes it easy to gauge how much ink is left in the pen.

Color (5/5): This pen has rose-gold accents which provides a sense of elegance and warmth.

Nib (5/5): This model houses a 18k <M> rose gold nib. According to Aurora, the nib is made of actual solid rose gold and is not rose-gold plated. The nib is firm and stiff—there is no flex. The nib glided seamlessly over the paper and gave very little feedback. This pen was always ready to write even when it was left uncapped for some time. I purchased this pen expecting that I had to send it off for tweaking, but instead will keep it as is.

Ink Capacity (5/5): This is a piston-filler and holds 1.36 mL. In layman’s terms, this pen holds enough to color an entire A5 page and then some!

Overall (4.5/5): To be honest, this was a sleeper hit! I definitely didn’t expect to like it this much but am very happy with the design, ink capacity, and rose gold nib.
