Ink Review #12: Aurora Sun Moon Lake

We are on a blue-ink kick lately! Today I will be reviewing my first Aurora ink which came packaged with the Aurora Optima Sun Moon Lake. This is a beautiful medium blue with warm undertones.

Aurora is an Italian pen company which was established in 1919 in Turin. This company is known for their high-end fountain pens such as the Aurora 88 and Aurora Optima. As a fun fact, they have also created a limited edition "Aurora Diamante pen" which is decorated with 2,000 diamonds (over 30 carats) and worth 1.46 million USD (!)

The ink was neatly packaged with real wax. I thought the ink would be similar to the wax color (a light teal blue), but in reality it was closer to a purple-blue.

This ink had no sheen and plenty of shading. It was difficult to photograph as the color appeared darker than in real life. The color is similar to Lamy's standard blue.

The ink was well behaved for longer writing times. I liked the shading a lot!

Overall: I would like to try more Aurora samples in the future. Unfortunately, this ink was a miss for me. I didn't see any unique characteristics which set it apart from other blues in the market.
