Ink Review #32: Robert Oster Black Violet

Today I will be reviewing Robert Oster's Black Violet. This is a black ink with grey undertones.

Swabs:

This ink had a moderate dry time, medium shading, and no sheen.

I have to admit, this color threw me for a loop. The swab showed grey purple-undertones. However, when I tested this ink out for a writing sample, the color was similar to a washed out black. I actually repeated the swab as I thought I mistakenly switched ink vials. However, the second swab (and writing blurb) showed similar results to the first batch. What a curious ink!

This ink was pleasant to use and easy to clean. The color is virtually identical to Robert Oster's Thunderstorm.

Overall: This is a well-behaved, grey-black ink. Because it is so similar to Robert Oster's Thunderstorm, I would not recommend purchasing a sample if you own either of the two.
