Ink Review #315: Diamine Registrar's Blue-Black

Today I’ll be reviewing one of Diamine’s iron-gall inks. As a reminder, these inks should be used in gold nibs and its best practice to rinse the pens out frequently. This is a beautiful deep color and quite professional too!

This ink had medium shading and no sheen. It is a lovely deep color that dries to a dark navy. It’s similar to Sailor Sou Boku and Montblanc Midnight Blue. Since this is an iron gall ink, the color will darken as it ages.

This ink was well-behaved with a consistent flow. It’s on the dry side but I had no issues with my Lamy 2000. In fact, I prefer the dry flow as it allowed me to control my handwriting.

Overall: This is a beautiful blue-black. I don’t typically purchase iron gall inks but will have to reserve a spot on the list for this one. It’s too pretty to pass up and I like the drier flow.
