Ink Review #576: Standard Bindery Old Friend

Hello everyone! These next few reviews will be focusing on Standard Bindery inks. This is an Australian-based company that was formerly named BookBinders. Unfortunately, these inks have been discontinued and are no longer available. One of my IG friends was kind enough to send a few samples along—I would like to extend a huge thank you to @mattematical for giving me the opportunities to review some cool colors!

The first color in this lineup is Old Friend, a deep purple.

Swabs:

This ink had very, very low shading and no sheen. It is a reddish purple, similar to mulled wine or grapes.

Dry Time/Water Resistance:

This ink had quite a long dry time at 50 seconds and medium water resistance.

Writing Sample: I found that this ink was heavily saturated with a wet flow.

Overall: I enjoyed this color (and name) a lot. It’s the quintessential “eggplant”/mauve color with great saturation.
