Ink Review #727: Maruzen Athena Eternal Blue

Today we will be reviewing a rarer ink - Maruzen Athena Eternal Blue. I had not heard of this ink previously; from what I’ve been able to read online, it is difficult to acquire unless you are in Japan. I was kindly sent this sample by a Redditor.

Swabs:

Eternal Blue is a medium blue with high shading and red sheen. It’s a lovely blue with a hint of green, and is similar to Robert Oster Lake of Fire, Robert Oster Blue Denim, and Taccia Jeans: Dark Wash.

Dry Time/Water Resistance:

This ink had a longer dry time at 40 seconds and had low water resistance.

Eternal Blue had a smooth, slightly wet flow with high saturation. The sheen is absolutely gorgeous and does not smear after drying.

Overall: I really enjoyed trying out this sample (and it is now on my “To-Buy” list). I am usually not a fan of sheen, but this ink won me over!
