Mini Monday: J. Herbin, Diamine, Taccia, Robert Oster

Hello and welcome to the first edition of “Mini Monday”! Each week, I will post mini ink reviews alongside the daily ink review. This allows us to a) get through the ink backlog and b) get back into different brands! I will also designate one pen (per week) to allow for the same line width, model, etc.

To provide more context—I am squarely in the middle of the Sailor Studio inks. This will take us out to mid-2020. I was concerned that my readers (and I) will face a bit of Sailor burnout. My goal is to liven up the blog with this mini reviews!

Tomoe River Paper 52 gsm

Pen: Montblanc 145 <fine>

• J. Herbin Cacao du Brésil: This is a wet ink with low shading and no sheen. The name translates to Brazilian Cocoa Brown. The color is a pleasant warm brown that looks like coffee beans!

• Diamine Earl Gray: This is a drier ink with medium shading and low sheen. The color is a standard grey-purple.

• Taccia Uguisu Olive Green: A wet ink with high shading and no sheen. The color reminds me of fresh spring grass.

• Robert Oster Velvet Storm: This had a regular flow, low shading, and medium sheen. This is a velvety pine green (and a favorite for the holidays).

Overall: My favorites are Cacao du Brésil, Uguisu, and Velvet Storm. These have been used at work and for journaling.
