Notebook Review: Endless Recorder A5 InkJournal

Hello readers! Today, I would like to review the InkJournal notebook which was kindly sent by Tom. I have been very excited to review this, and wish that I had known about it before starting my blog. It would have made things a lot smoother!

Instead, I use an A-5 Tomoe River notebook which has swatches of every ink that has been reviewed (or will be) for the blog.

A page from my personal ink swatch notebook (Tomoe River Paper 52 gsm).

The back of my notebook, which houses black and blue-black inks.

Moving on to our review—the first detail that struck me was the color. This is a vibrant, eye-catching blue notebook.

Specs:

  • 8.3” x 5.5” (211mm x 139.7mm)

  • 192 pages; 80 gsm acid-free Regalia Paper

  • Elastic band closure

  • 2 page ribbon bookmarks

Paper/Ink:

This journal handled fountain pen inks wonderfully! The paper is substantial and thicker than Tomoe River 52 gsm paper (which I am used to). It is very smooth, but not glossy like Rhodia paper.

There are three types of pages:

  • A swatch page where you can fill out the inked pen and nib size

  • An in-depth ink swatch page featuring categories such as flow, shading, sheen, dry time, etc. I thought I would utilize these pages more, but ended up liking the third page..

  • Another swatch page filled with 15 squares. As you can see in the images, I experimented a bit on organizing inks. I ended up going for a ‘Pantone-like’ style. This page was my absolute favorite to use. If InkJournal were to release a notebook purely with these squares, I would be the first in line!

I have added pictures of how the notebook looks in real life, as well as scanned through my Epson printer.

Overall:

The InkJournal is a wonderful little notebook, and a fantastic way to categorize inks. It is clear that this was designed with care and attention to detail. Personally, I loved the square swatches page!

This notebook was kindly sent by InkJournal.com for review. All thoughts/opinions are my own.
