2022 State of the Collection: Pens & Inks
Hello everyone! Welcome to the annual “State of the Collection” post. This year was very tough as I was stressed during dedicated (boards-studying time). Life definitely improved after I passed (both) exams! Since then, I’ve been absolutely thriving on rotations/clinicals. I love interacting with patients and improving my clinical knowledge. Although lots of things have changed, my love for fountain pens/inks has remained steadfast! I cannot believe that this blog has survived another year. To all my readers (constant and new), thank you for your support!
Without further ado, here is my collection!
Currently, my collection consists of 6 pens (with one on the way). From left to right:
Pilot 823 <PO>, Lamy 2000 <F>, Pilot Carbonesque Vanishing Point <nib in process>, Noodler’s Commonwealth Pen Show <Creaper>, Platinum Meteor <0.38>, Schon Design Full Sized Ultem in Peek <Ballpoint/Jowo Fine>, Aurora Demo Rosa 88 <Medium>
Best Daily Writer: Pilot 823 <PO>
If I had to pick a pen while being stranded on an island, the 823 would be my first choice. I’ve actually shifted from medium —> fine —> PO nibs. I find that the PO nib is perfect for hospital paper. Currently this 823 is paired with de Atramentis Black Blue (waterproof, slightly wet flow).
Best Ink Review Pen: Lamy 2000 <F>
I love everything about my L2K. When I first started this blog, I was switching pens for ink reviews. But, I wanted to stick to a reliable pen with an average flow. The L2K, for me, has the perfect weight, line width, and flow for ink reviews.
Must-Try Ink Brand of 2022: Faber Castell
I reviewed quite a lot of Faber-Castell inks this year, and have been pleasantly surprised by all of them. My favorite would be Midnight Blue, but I found all of the inks to be well behaved with great saturation. I would definitely recommend trying some samples!
If you’ve made it this far, I would like to thank you for your support! I look forward to another year filled with ink reviews. Happy holidays!
