Ink Review #363: Kala Nostalgia Gemstone Spectrolite

Today we’ll be reviewing Kala Spectrolite! Spectrolite was discovered in 1940 and is a combination of blue, grey, and green.

This ink has no shading and high sheen. The color is akin to a teal-black rather than blue-black.

I found this ink to be delightfully wet and smooth. I did not experience any hard skips or starts, though at this point I suspect it is luck, and not overall pigment ink quality. This would be a great ink to use in class if you need a waterproof dark blue-black.

Overall: Spectrolite is a waterproof, pigmented blue-black ink. I would recommend cleaning your pen out regularly as pigmented inks tend to dry out the nib.
