Ink Review #742: De Atramentis Document Ink Black Blue

For my readers who celebrate Christmas, I hope that this post finds you well! Today I will be reviewing de Atramentis Document Black Blue. These inks are made in Germany and the Document line is waterproof.

Usually I review ink samples before I purchase a full bottle, but I made a spur-of-the-moment decision after seeing this fantastic post on Reddit. (Spoiler alert: it was worth it).

Swabs:

De Atramentis Black Blue is a black ink with dark blue hues. I would say the color leans black, and has no shading or sheen (compared to my favorite Sailor Sei Boku).

Dry Time/Water Resistance:

This ink had a long dry time of 40 - 45 seconds and is waterproof.

Writing Sample:

Black Blue was a wet ink (it turned my Pilot F into a Pilot M). Nevertheless, it had a fantastic flow. I did not experience any hard starts or skips, even when leaving the pen uncapped for quite some time.

Overall: For those of you who prefer waterproof black inks, I would definitely recommend trying out a sample. I have been using this ink on rotations and enjoy it a lot, especially knowing that it is waterproof. Right now, I’ve paired it with a PO nib to temper the wet flow.
