Notebook Review: Dingbats* A5 Wildlife Notebook

Hello everyone! I’ve been busy studying for boards (they are scheduled for July) but have had this review on the back burner for quite some time. I was kindly sent two notebooks from Dingbats and am excited to write about their Wildlife Collection.

Background:

Dingbats* is an eco-friendly company that originally was part of SKB, the oldest paper company in the country of Lebanon. They primarily focus on biodegradable, 100% recyclable notebooks and materials. Currently, their website offers three three notebook collections: Wildlife, Earth, and Pro. Please note that the sizes offered, as well as paper ruling, varies between collections!

The Wildlife notebooks are offered in a wide variety of sizes including A4+, A5, and A6+. In addition, they come in dot-grid, lined, grid, or plain ruling. They have an elastic band which secures the notebook as well as a pen loop. I personally chose the red kangaroo version as that was my old college mascot.

I love the paw detailing on the inner cover. In addition, 2% of the company revenue is donated towards the WWF-UK charity—which is fantastic !

The pen loop fit my Lamy 2k comfortably.

Paper:

As a frequent page-tearer (and notebook hoarder), I definitely appreciated the page perforations.

This notebook contains 192 pages of 100 gsm, fountain-pen friendly paper. The pages are smooth and feel substantial, but are not as glossy as Rhodia paper. However, the writing feel is nothing but excellent - smooth and not toothy!

Ink:

Jowo <M> with Penposium’s For About An Eternity ink.

This notebook handled ink quite well. There is some light, but barely noticeable, ghosting.

Overall:

I absolutely loved this little notebook! I’ve carried it around in my backpack and have not noticed any signs of wear and tear. The paper is great for fountain pens (perforated pages- yes!). If you’re in the market for eco-friendly notebooks, then I would recommend browsing the Dingbats* notebooks (and other products) online.

Note: Thank you to Dingbats* who kindly offered these notebooks in exchange for a review.
