Ink Review #214: Sailor Sei-Boku

Hi everyone! Today we are following up yesterday’s Sou-Boku ink with Sei-Boku. Sei-Boku is the older sister to Sou Boku and is a bright, refreshing blue. It is a nano-pigment, waterproof ink. I was fortunate to receive this sample from a close friend. I admit that I was slightly biased before heading into this review. I was completely content with Sou-Boku and didn’t see the need for another work ink. Boy, was I wrong..

This is a mid-blue with medium shading and sheen. The color is bright and pleasant, and reminds me of a hot summer’s day.

This ink had a long dry time at 45 seconds and high water resistance.

This ink had a regular, consistent flow. I found that it was quite manageable in my Pelikan <F> which is on the wetter side. I really liked the depth of the shading as well as the red sheen.

Overall: I was so pleased with this ink that I have two work pens—one with Sou-Boku and the other with Sei-Boku. I definitely recommend trying a sample if you’re interested in a waterproof blue ink.
